Charles Franklin Ford

Charles Franklin Ford passed away Sunday at Huntsville, Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Madkins Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America, 2403 Oakwood Road, Huntsville, with Dr. Mitchell Walker Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home. Charles, following an illustrious career in education, retired from the Huntsville City School system after serving 30 years as either principal or assistant principal at Stone Middle, Huntsville Middle and Davis Hills Middle Schools. He was an outstanding starting player with coach "Mooney" Lewis, Alabama A&M University basketball Bulldogs. Friends and fans fondly remember Charles as "Chuck" or "Stick". Charles is survived by his wife, Patricia Dumas Ford of Huntsville; two daughters, Vahnessa Ford Taylor of Orlando , Fla., and Kimberly Adina Ford of Huntsville; one granddaughter, Ashley Taylor of Atlanta; two sisters, Shirley Dowdell and husband Charles and Gloria Jean Ford of Michigan City, Ind.; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. Mr. Ford will lie in repose in the church one hour prior to funeral time.
