12-20-12 - Lisa Grumbles was  named the winer of the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama's 2013 Women of Distinction Award.


12-15-12 - Today Lora Shuey received her masters' degree in nursing, first in her class. She is now a nurse practitioner. 


12-8-12 - Many of you knew Kyle Huston's sister Kathy Huston Adams '74. Kathy died yesterday in a one car accident near Athens. 


11-24-12 - Lauren Farrington was ordained today into the Episcopal priesthood.

11-13-12 - Jimmy Pearsall passed away this past Sunday from hypoxia and pneumonia. 


11-1-12 - This has become an annual post. This morning the HHS girls volleyball team won the state championship yet again. That is 10 of the last 11 years. And they only have one senior on the team this year. Classmate Randall Cox has a daughter on the tea,. 


10-29-12 - Paul Borelli got married this past weekend. The bride's name is Rhonda Marple.

10-21-12 - A fun time last night at LeeAnn's here in Huntsville. Tiger Sirote was in town from Australia and Dawn Cox from Texas and a gathering ensued. Pictured below are Jeanie Burkett, Sally Peeler, Stephen Hamm, Dawn Cox, Tommy Schrimsher, Paige McLeod, Tiger Sirote and Kerry McGrady. Other folks there included Bill Elliot, Harvey Cotten '75, Mack Vann '75, Ken Chandler '75, Bobby Roberts, Gala Phillip, and of course LeeAnn's is owned by LeeAnn Clingan.

9-19-12 - Calvin McElroy died this past Sunday. 


9-8-12 - HHS beat Grissom last night 21-20. Not sure how many but that is several years in a row. Recent years had been blowouts. 


7-31-12 - - Bert Peake is president of the Five Points Historic District Association here in Huntsville.   


7-23-12 - Last night was the annual Pig and Poker Reunion. THey came from as far away as Australia and Minnesota. THis year a picture emerged. 7-20-12 - Betty Dinwiddie, who taught government and economics at HHS for 31 years, passed away yesterday. Anna McCulloch is married to Miss Dinwiddie's brother, Rusty.  You can read her obituary by clicking on her picture in the Memorials page. 


7-15-12 - Over the years Jennie Floyd has recorded several CDs and written some original songs. You can hear some of her music here.


7-13-12 - Debbie Green recently earned her certification as an animal obedience instructor. Congratulations Debbie! 


7-7-12 - In November 2011 Steve Cataldo and Christy Murray got married. Steve and Christy dated in 11 and 12th grades and the first couple of years of college before going their separate ways. A couple of years ago the reconnected. You can read the complete story on Steve's page in The Class.




7-5-12 - Michael Grounds passed away on Tuesday. I do not know the cause but he was receiving hospice care. You can read his obituary and see photos and read his bio by clicking his picture on the Memorials page. I will leave his page up in The Class section in case anyone needs his mailing address. 


6-9-12 - After many years of living in New England, last August Steve Bethay moved to Madison, Mississippi (near jackson) where he works for Entergy Company. There is an updated bio on his page. 


6-8-12 - Coach McKee died yesterday. He was 80 and an HHS graduate. I believe class of '49. His obituary is here


6-6-12 - Bill Elliot will be representing the US in the World Gliding Championships this summer in Texas. He will also soon become a grandpa for the first time. 


6-6-12 - Jim Clark practiced dentistry in Birmingham for many years. Last year he sold his practice, moved to Fairhope and bought a practice there. 


5-7-12 - Pat Hughes lives in Sweden and does some acting in commercials. If you look back through the news archives you can see several examples of his work. Soon one of his ads will be showing in the US. You have to watch quickly but he is Napoleon and you can see the ad here:

3-28-12 - Last night Kathy McDonough got to hear Scott Ramminger and the Crawstickers play in Alexandria, VA. A few weeks ago Paige McLeod also was able to hear him play while in the DC area. Below are Scott and Kathy.

3-26-12 - In June Tim Berg and his family are moving to Rwanda. Among other things Tim will be providing medical and surgical care there. 2-29-12 - I have learned that 2 classmates who have been on our lost list actually have passed away. Starlene Branson sometime in the late 80s or 90s and Clay Bledsoe in 2007. I will be adding both of them to our memorials page in the near future.

2-21-12 - Scott Ramminger  won a wammie (Washington Area Music Award) for best debut album. The album is called Crawstickers and is available at CDBaby, Amazon, iTunes and other major outlets. That's Scott on the left.
