Mark C. Rieger
AIKEN - Mark C. Rieger, 65, beloved husband of Paula McGrath Rieger, passed away Saturday morning, November 25, 2023 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Huntsville, AL, Mark was a son of Gisela Stein Rieger and the late Carl J. Rieger. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and had a successful career in accounting and financial management. He formerly worked with Bayer Properties in Birmingham, AL in financial and risk management. He served as CFO with Raytheon before moving to Aiken in 2010 to work with Amentum. He retired in 2014 as the financial director for AECOM. Mark was an avid Alabama fan. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Paula is his mother, Gisela Rieger, Huntsville, AL; three children, Matthew Rieger (Erin McCoy), Atlanta, GA, Abby Rieger McCrory (John), Birmingham, AL, Austin Rieger, Nashville, TN and his grandson, Wells McCrory.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 30th from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be in Huntsville, AL at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with interment in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association (heart.org) or to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
