Luckily while working in High School I discovered I had a natural affinity for marketing, which was a good thing, because I thought I was being very clever by choosing English courses in high school that did not require a term paper. Needless to say when I arrived at Millsaps College I had a very rude awaking and a some what shakey start. I was so glad I had an idea that I wanted to major in Business/ Marketing. After graduation I went to work for Multiple Sclerosis of Mississippi, which I loved, but soon realize that would not afford me the lifestyle I wanted, and after giving back in a small way it was time to return to school and get my MBA. I was offered the teaching assistant job in stats and marketing...boy, would the math teachers at HHS be surprised....I don't think I ever made above a B. While working on my MBA I was offered a job with Brown Forman Distilleries (Korbel Champagne,Jack Daniels, and many other dark goods labels) as theri first female hire in a 20 state region, and they would pay for the rest of my MBA. Needless to say I couldn't turn that down. I then moved up the ranks first living in Jackson, MS,then Memphis TN,and finally San Antonio TX. I realized, just in time, that the industry was getting ready to have a set back with everyone starting to get healthy, not drinking the dark goods, which we were heavy on, and I was aware that maybe I should use my talents else where since I was pretty sure I wasn't doing anything to help society as a whole. I then switched from booze to drugs, well the pharmaceutical industry and moved to Little Rock, AR. I again was in a setting working as one of the first women in the industry and loving every minute. In 1987 I married Heartsill Ragon III, a Little Rock business attorney, it took me a while to find someone one who could put up with me. This side tracked my career because if you couldn't relocate, you couldn't be promoted and the job was no longer fun, therefore not worth doing. A few years later we had two lovely daughters, Sydney and Caroline, now 16 & 13. After years of volunteer work, I have recently started working as Marketing Consultant for SanLori, a national Stationery and Invitation company, as well as working with a few small business owners on marketing plans. In my spare time I play bridge and travel....I just took 4 sixteen year old girls to Cabo.... I am never bored and having fun.... I really haven't been to Huntsville very many times since graduation, and not at all in the last decade. I am really looking forward to seeing the people I grew up with. Okay, now that I have written more than Jim Robertson I can stop. I just wanted to show Paige that I could. Some things never change.
