After graduating from HHS, went to Auburn, started out majoring in Math but graduated with a B.A. in English. Went to UT Austin, finished an M.A. in English and completed coursework for a Ph.D. but decided teaching wasn't my bag, so I left and went to work for Texas Instruments as a technical editor in 1984, moving into technical writing a year or so later. In 1987, left TI and went to work for a small company called PC's Limited, which was started a few years earlier by a teenage kid working out of his dorm room. Only stayed for 10 months due to crazy, out-of-process environment. Went to work for National Instruments for about 18 months before returning to what was now known as Dell Computer Corporation. Stayed there for nearly 14 years, eventually becoming Senior Manager of Information Development with a staff of about 60, including a few in India. Retired in 2003. Married twice, divorced twice, no kids, just a 16-year-old pointer named Ophelia. Founded a record label (www.wildebeestrecords.com). Am now Music Director and host a weekly music program called The Swinger (Saturday noon to 1 p.m. Central) on community radio station KOOP (you can stream it from www.koop.org). Life has never been better.
