Bernie Swanson, 77, died July 17,2022 from natural causes. He graduated from Huntsville High and Florence State College with a master's degree. His passion was education and he sought every opportunity to learn. He was employed by Huntsville City Schools from 1968 to 2015, at Chapman and then Huntsville High. He was a published author of the social studies textbook Challange for Survival and selected Alabama's Energy Educator of the year. His hobbies were bowling, golf, hunting, and camping. He leaves behind his son, Michael Swanson (Liezle), daughter, Courtney Swanson Badham (Tom), former wife Linda Swanson Bilstein, grandchildren, Dominic and Elise Swanson and Emily and Tyler Badham, and caretakers, Tina Walker and Edella Tucker. No services are planned.
