Charlotte Karr Sanders, 86, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 4, 1936. A 1954 graduate of Huntsville High School, Charlotte received her B.A. from the University of Alabama and her M.A. in Education from Alabama A&M University. Retiring in 1996, Charlotte taught school for 30 years - the last 24 in the business department at Huntsville High School.
Charlotte loved her family and family gatherings, especially her annual Christmas party. She enjoyed sewing, smocking, and embroidery; the lovely dresses she made for her granddaughters will always be cherished. An enthusiastic Alabama football fan, Charlotte planned her fall Saturdays around Bama games; however, she loved nothing more than her dog, Honi.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sanders; father, Fletcher Karr; mother, Lillian Hawkins; stepfather, Oscar Hawkins; and granddaughter, Sara Plasterer. She is survived by her three children, Janice Plasterer (David), Michael Anderson (Susan), and Mark Anderson (Laura); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and Tina Yates, her dear friend who loved and cared for her.
Visitation is Friday, March 24, at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, Huntsville, Alabama. Her service will follow at 2:00 PM with burial immediately following.
