Ina Jenkins

Ina Joyce McDonald Jenkins July 3, 1943 - October 22, 2022 Ina Joyce McDonald Jenkins was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on October 22, 2022, at the age of 79. Born in Fayette, Alabama on July 3, 1943, Ina was the daughter of Clarence Richardson McDonald and Faye Corrine Perry McDonald. She graduated from Cheatham County Central High School in Ashland City, Tennessee in 1961. Ina then earned her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics Education from Tennessee Technological University in 1971. It was during her time at the University that she married and had her 3 sons. She later moved to Huntsville, Alabama and earned her MED Degree at Alabama A&M University. Those that knew Ina knew of her immense love for teaching. This lifelong enthusiasm began at Calvary Hills Middle School, where she taught for 4 years. She then taught Home Economics at Huntsville High School for 28 years until her retirement in 2000. Even after this, Ina decided to return to teaching for an additional 3 years at Moore County High School in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The care she poured into her classrooms greatly impacted her students and resulted in a myriad of long-lasting friendships. Nothing held a higher place in Ina's heart than her family. She swelled with pride at every chance to mention her three sons and ten grandchildren. The friends in her life were also recipients of this fierce love, because she drew the circle of family wider than most people do. She deeply valued the love and support given by her friends, fellow teachers, and the faithful community at Whitesburg Baptist Church. Ina is survived by her 3 children, her son, Derek Clark Jenkins (Donna), and his children, Caroline Marie, Maria Catherine, Anne Lawrence, and Eleanor Grace; her son, Golden Kip Jenkins, and his daughter, Victoria Hope; and her son, Richard Chip Jenkins (Ashley), and his children, John William, Ramey Gray, Anna Corrine, Stella Morgan, Richard Carson.
