Roy was my big brother and I miss him so much. He was extremely smart and I admired him so much for his intellect. Growing up he never studied and made all A's and I studied and studied to make what I did! I remember when I needed his help in grasping a concept and it was so obvious to him he would get frustrated with me and give up!
Roy had a kind and very sensitive heart. He loved animals-we had a beloved cat named "Cleo" which we'd always fought over. "No, you had her last night, it's my night tonight!," we'd banter back and forth with each other!
Roy loved to play tennis, go to Mexico with Rusty Fowler and dive, and he loved the beach. Things were always pretty easy for Roy in life, usually.
Roy started to have severe problems after both of our parents died. He started to drink heavily to drown out depression and his drinking caused health problems. His drinking interfered with his second marriage and his job-he lost both of those things. I tried unsuccessfully for two and a half years to help him in every way possible. He even came to live with me for awhile. Sadly,
he took his life on February 4, 2011.
I want to leave this thought-treat people as though it is their last day with you. You never know what the next day brings.
Roy, I love you so much and will miss you every day for the rest of my life.
Your loving sister,
Nancy (Davis) Murphy
